Usually, people believe cardboard design is good for short-lived, fragile, and simple design. Usually, it’s true, not because it’s a matter of fact, but designers are most of the time keener of more noble materials.
So the ‘it-bed’ may be not one of the most spectacular object ever designed, although it reaches the essential requirement: Supporting all kind of mattress without breaking nor flattering itself on floor; Being foldable, a nice feature for a temporary bed shed.
Itbed is made of 7mm thick cardboard and presents the same structure as a folding screen. I swear, it took 23 seconds to throw it on the ground and zigzag it a little to arrange its height. Then let elementary physics do the job. The air cushion will insulate your mattress better and evacuate any condensation.
Two models are available so far. One for futons, the second for regular mattresses. Unfortunately, it’s way too high for a simple design. It cost at 340 euros to get one of those. Come on, guys, we’re not going to bargain, but this won’t help you buy a lot of your stuff.
