Dasparkhotel is a concept hotel or a crazy idea that works. Andreas Strauss, an Austrian art college graduate, thought it would be nice to create the idea of minimalist and economical lodging place.

The hotel is located in Ottensheim near Linz, in a grassy park next to the Danube. Rooms are simply made of concrete 2 meter-diameter pipe-pods. They are booked on the hotel web site, guests received the door codes to their personal pod suites by postmail, and payment are similar to donations. Before they go, they leave an amount in the room that should be fair for the length of the stay.

The facilities are a bit minimalist. Each room provides one power point per room, a blanket, a mattress with a pair of sleeping bags. Just the essential might say the creator. But the beauty of the hotel is its ultra simplicity, its will to reuse basic materials and its affordable price.
