The Massachusetts Institute of Technology is taking the lead in smart solar car innovation. They recently finished with a long research car program in which Frank Gehry, the Guggenheim museum architect, did participate in. This time, the MIT is offering a ecofriendly car summer program.
“In a serious effort to revolutionize the design process for alternative transportation technology, 60 engineers representing 15 countries are participating in MIT’s Vehicle Design Summit (VDS) this summer from June 13 to August 13.”
“This intensive program will provide the foundation for ongoing multi-disciplinary transportation research to develop commuter vehicle designs based on bio-fuels, solar power, human power, and other technologies.”
Teams of 6 and 7 will be working on five kind of designs. And for instance, could end up with the concept car showed in picture. Ford, 3M and GM are among the official sponsors of the program.
