If you know Swiffer, the pad for so-so home cleaners, here’s its eco-conscious rival: Method. The company launched a design pad called Omop that can be curved so you don’t bend, and unlike the established company, that relies on magnets instead of holes to carry the cleaning cloths.
But the more interesting features of the pad lay in the sweeping cloths. They are compostable, derived from corn. Although growing corn requires a greeter amount of water than other crops, there’s currently an under exploited abundance of corn, enough to make corn-derived products great and low-impact consuming goods. Method currently provides their pads in the US market. (via vestal)
