CocolicoEach day, one green design.

Children from emerging countries aren’t children. They’re just small adults. And as grown-ups, their faces are dead serious after going to the water pump, being an help-cook, baby sitting all day long. So in that way, being a kid in those countries isn’t that great, no playtime.

PlayPumps doesn’t intend to change the situation ― correction, the non-profit venture strive to change it but one step at times. Their brilliant idea: Combining a children merry-go-round/roundabout, a water pump so that children keep playing while they fill community water storages.

Each installation pumps up to 1,400 liters per hour and costs from $5,000 to $10,000 — not unaffordable for this kind of infrastructure. To date, over 600 PlayPumps have been installed, mainly in South African but also in Mozambique and Zambia.

The PlayPumps mother organization is also accepting donations. If you can, a small donation would be nice.
