Bicycles are popular in South East Asia. In some places, they outnumber local residents. Why? Because people can do a lot more than just riding their two-wheels. Of course, in those places, cars are unaffordable. No car to carry groceries, no car to bring kids to schools means developing smart ways to do them with bikes.
Imagine what we could do to reinvent our Western local short distance transportation if we just look closer at what exists out there.
So take a look at Trix, the last big cycling concept. A tricycle, Trix isn’t a cool three-wheel designed to bring the Indian rickshaw into ultra urban places. Instead, it’s engineered to provide a more maneuverable steering system, combined to a very versatile carry system.
The steering system ― we bet on it ― will get more and more popular. Piaggio, the world-class scooter manufacturer, brought out its MP3 three-wheel scooter with quite the same system.
Trix has been designed by Yves Plattard, from The Product Group. He proposed the concept at the 10th International Bicycle Design Competition in Taipei, Taiwan. And guess what? It won.
