CocolicoEach day, one green design.

It’s weekend time, you stepped out of your office and managed somehow to make room in your schedule for craftsmanship. If you are one of those DIYers, here what we suggest you.

1. BUILD YOUR SAIL BOAT New Zealand (check Wikipedia) is best known for their rugby team and their sailing dexterity. A thought to former yachtsman, sir Peter Blake, who lead the first non American team to grab the America’s Cup.

John Spencer and Peter Tait are responsible of the Firebug, a small boat which could be home built at low or relatively low cost. They propose you to create your own. The Firebug boat could be for kids and for not-than-young kids. It could even welcome ample rooms and sails. Tests in real environment prove the small boat is functional. The plan are available for €35. [via]

2. PINBALL YOUR COFFEE TABLE A smart reuse of a pinball machine. You cannot play anymore at it but well, you can get the souvenir though. The detailed method has been aired here.

3. SAVE ONE PLYWOOD FOR THIS BOOKCASE There always is an unused plywood somewhere. If it’s not in the garage, it’s in the garbage bin. People throw a bunch of interesting things. Interesting only when you know what to do with them.

Here’s another example of recycling plywood. Only two pieces to construct it. In short: Slice them like sausages. Make equal parts. Glue or nail the small parts together into this stylish bookcase.

4. TURN YOUR BICYCLE WHEEL INTO ART Many instructive DIY recipes have been added by the Saul’s prolific mind. One of the good ones is how he twisted bicycle wheel rods into a flower. He described them as “flower” but dreamcatcher would also be appropriate. This is for regular DIYers. Bending rods could be quite painful.

You could also email us your inventions, innovations or building tips. We will put them here for the next weekend. Don’t forget to send images.
