Somehow, Michael Jantzen is a polymath. Its portfolio shows buildings that nicely integrate renewable energies not just as an external power use, but right in their core. A while ago, we showed the tower building where each floor could spin with the wind and thus turns itself into a wind turbine.
This time, it’s the wind tunnel footbridge, a design proposal for a wind activated footbridge made of steel and aluminum. Five turbines wheels compose the bridge. As the wind blows, they rotate around the bridge and can produce different electronic sounds. The Wind tunnel Footbridge was designed to be constructed as an architectural attraction but it can be considered as a discrete windmill. Something that won’t be enough to supply a whole neighborhood, but certainly can be an interesting additional power source to supply streetlights.
